When I moved to Japan in 2007 I started to take classes in Japanese gold leaf painting. I now use gold leaf in combination with oil paint, although I might add some gold leaf or Japanese colored leaf to mixed media works on paper. The soft sheen of gold leaf adds subtle Eastern inflections.
