Oil painting fascinates me, not due to its rich historical lineage, but rather because oils may be applied in thin glazes or in thick impasto-or anything in between. With such versatility in volume and substance, the old medium demands a certain respect-from any artist who works with them. When I paint in oils I often think of old Masters who used them: Leonardo, Vermeer, Rembrandt... So naturally, oil is my medium of choice when I paint landscapes.
