I am a painter with abstract inclinations who spent the last twenty or so years in Asia and henceforth became influenced by Chinese painting techniques and philosophy as well as the ethical implications of Japanese design (concepts). Consequently, my art combines traditional and contemporary techniques, simplicity and ambiguity, reality and imagination.
I use nature in a calculated way as a source of ideas... I look at nature abstractly and concentrate more on painting. I choose a subject not because I like the view as such, but because I feel its potential of giving me a structure on which I build an interesting picture. In that sense I am abstract expressionist. Colors that I use are intuitive; I seldom follow the color scheme that I see in nature. I feel I can't duplicate nature, I can only interpret it. I only use natural objects to convey my inner thoughts, ideas and express my feelings. My paintings are visual border stones between reality and inner experience of the outside world.
I have been painting professionally for over 20 years. I've had exhibited my artworks in USA, China, Singapore, Austria, Japan and Slovenia. My paintings could be found in private collections in USA, Australia, China, New Zealand and Singapore as well as in various European countries.
I hold BA degree from the University of Economics, Ljubljana-Slovenia and BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing-China. I have also studied oil painting at the College of Fine Art, Edinburgh-Great Britain and attended several oil painting workshops in Spain.
I currently live and work in Slovenia.
